The chakras are energy centers located along the spinal column in our bodies. They are located near the seven major nerve ganglia (cluster of nerve cell bodies) that arise from the spinal cord. Each area of the spinal cord electrifies the ganglia and various organs through nerve signals to and from the nervous system.
These energy centers "connects our physical existence to higher and deeper non-physical realms" as described by Dr. Anodea Judith (2017). Each chakra has a shape and frequency that form as fractal patterns over time. They are influenced by our daily actions, intentions, environments and behaviors.
The goal is to harmonize the energy centers so that they function optimally. They are related to our energetic body more then the physical body. Therefore physical health issues don't impact the chakras as much as our non physical states do. For example, our ability to have compassion for others, having foresight, being in touch with our creativity, develop healthy relationships and connection with purpose and meaning in our lives.
Once the chakras are properly aligned and open we can experience a Kundalini Awakening. This occurs when dormant energy at the base of the spine, ascends through the chakras and expands our awareness significantly. A strong current of energy is experienced from the tips of our toes to the top of our head (electrical feeling) along with other symptoms while this occurs.
Trauma and adverse events from our lives can interfere with the chakras and Kundalini Awakening process. See below for information on how we can find more balance and gain control of our inner depths.
